Firstvets is a small-animal practice used by owners of cats and dogs, with multiple reviews also mentioning rabbits and a pet rat. Owners repeatedly describe vets taking time to explain treatments and answer questions without rushing, including arranging a BSL interpreter for an appointment. Reviews also suggest the team is comfortable handling nervous or stressed pets (for example, a very nervous dog and a highly stressed cat during a first visit). Cost is a recurring point of tension: some reviewers were happy with the bill coming in under their budget, while others felt charges were high and/or not made clear upfront.

We recently transferred to Foret Hall FirstVets after moving last year and there are not enough words to express how amazing Judith and the practice have been! Judith is kind, compassionate and gentle with both our cat Luna, and us. She takes the time from explaining medication labels to answering our worries! We never feel rushed, talked down to, or like anything is a silly question. Communication in and out of appointments is top notch, particularly with ensuring that there was a BSL interpretation available. Definitely come here!

recently took my pet rat here for the first time as i thought previous vets were expensive so wanted to try somewhere new. the vet did a thorough consultation but the pricing was ridiculous paid £144 for my pet to get put to sleep which is an extortionate price so will not be returning to this vets again for that reason.

We have recently moved into Newcastle from India. Our pet Zeke had an issue for which we consulted First Vets. The vet was amazing and after a thorough inspection prescribed us some antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicines which worked well. The only disappointing note for us was the cost which came to about 115 pounds which seems very expensive. We were not told upfront on the charges that we might incur whether it was for the consultation or the medicines. I guess this is the norm in UK. We have no qualms on the treatment though.

Beerus had his first Apt. here today - check up, shots and chip. Vet herself was awesome (sorry I didn't catch her name), working with a very stressed boy, who wouldnt stop meowing the house down from the point we left home until we got back, other than with her. Bill came in 33% under budget too, which is icing on the cake. Very happy we have registered Bear here, Id recommend.
