Moorview Vets appears to operate as part of the My Family Vets group (based on the clinic website domain). Recent reviews describe good hands-on veterinary care in some cases (for example, treatment for an eye ulcer and ongoing ear problems), but also repeated concerns about costs and administration, including payment-chasing after owners believed they’d already settled or been told nothing was due. A small number of owners also report being pushed toward high-cost diagnostics/surgery for back problems in Dachshunds (MRI/spinal operation discussions), while another vet later advised rest instead—so experiences vary sharply depending on the case.

I had my cat seen here and paid the exorbitant fee online the same day, and claimed with my insurance that same day. Despite this, I received a call on Christmas Eve requesting payment, which I then had to forward back to them. While the veterinary care itself was fine (but expensive) the administrative handling was clearly disorganised and instead of sorting out their internal systems and checking they decide to be distrustful and bother me. They need to improve their systems to prevent unnecessary stress and bother for customers.

Excellent practice with excellent standards all round, if your looking for a vet then I would recommend this practice.

Treatment was excellent. The issue I have is the cost of medication. This visit, consultation cost £54. Recommended medication, I ask for a prescription. Was told that this would cost an additional £30! Or could pay £25 for them to supply. Later at home found that medication could be bought on-line for £4. Previous vets visit I could have saved £90 for two items if bought on line. Happy to pay for any consultation and treatment, but additional £30 for a prescription is ridiculous, plus the medication mark up of 400%? I will look to finding a vet with more reasonable pricing for medications.

Our 16 year old Dachshund injured his back in Oct when we were on holiday, my 86 year old mother took him to Moorview Vets, thinking this was our vets as it is near to where we live. She was told to wait outside in her car until 9.15 with the dog, took him in, wanted authority there and then for a spinal operation, £7,000 cannot wait, get in touch with the owners. Fortunately my daughter was aware this happened during covid and he made a full recovery, took him to a Vets in Cramlington the next day, told to totally rest him, disc was not slipped. We are now 8 weeks later, our dog is fine, running around with no issues. Now you can excuse one occasion as accidental, but not 'TWICE'. A friend of ours have just told us today exactly the same thing has happened to their Dachshund, only 2 years old, Moorview suggested MRI and operation, £11000, my daughter informed them what happened to our Dachshund, another vet stating total rest rather than an operation 'Well yes that is another option' . I am unable to post without giving 1 star! I will leave this here, but its your choice.

Took my dog for an eye ulcer, was administered medication. At the follow up appointment went to pay and was advised no payment was needed. So left. Another appointment was made for the following week. The afternoon before the we realized we had conflicting appointments and needed to cancel. I rang the Backworth practice and put in the que. I was 2nd in the que for 87 mins. I rang the Cramlington practice and was told they cannot change appointments as it’s not their branch. That I could call backworth at 7:30 as that’s when they open. Rang the following morning as was on hold, again 2nd in the que from 7:37 till 8:47! I then receives a call 3 weeks after the follow up appointment asking for payment. Yet was told no payment was needed. I questioned this, reception lady advised as it wasn’t her that we spoke to we would have to pay! They are so money driven, no customer service, no apology for the lack of communication. I was told they have a high sickness in receptionists at the moment and it’s not their fault! Very helpful! Safe to say I will now be moving to a family ran vets rather than a money making chain!

We changed vets due to a move and our American Cocker is only young and she has so many issues with her ears. I have to say this vets was not phased by this at all. So very caring and determined to save her ear. Thank you all so very much, from the great reception team to the caring vets. We have been to 2 of your practices and both are excellent.

Unreliable, untrustworthy and dishonest. They're only really for the money. Taken out a recommended direct debit plan for my dog but have not received any treatment yet, plenty of emails to say they had done it however verbal information. No doubt this feedback will be removed yet again as they only like good feedback.
